I REMEMBER MAMA August 9 — August 13 John Van Druten Directed by Francesca James I Remember Mama is about one of the most universal elements of life - family. Set in San Francisco in 1910, the play centers around the memories of Katrin, the oldest daughter of the Hansen family. Through her writings, she brings us the rich characters in her Norwegian immigrant family including her remarkable mother, Marta. In spite of poverty and the difficulties of adjusting to a new country, Marta perseveres, paving the way for her children's bright future. Together Mama and Papa teach their children the values that will help them succeed - work hard and get a good education. Be careful with your money and generous with their affection. Every member of this delightful family is a fully realized character, displaying love, humor, anger, sorrow, and wisdom. In this season's production a full complement of long time Monomoy family members, including, Alan Rust, Nora Chester, Terry Layman and Ellen Fiske will join the student cast. Francesca James, who brought us a magnificent production of The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-theMoon Marigolds, will direct.
One of the most heartwarming studies of immigrant family life in early 20th century America. Tickets $28.00 Evenings $23.00 Matinees
